ATTN: Ed Hooks – –Question….

Question:

I’m not Ed, but you have a problem that should easily be resolved with another call to SAG. As a SAG franchised agency, a little nudge form a SAG Omsbudsman should settle things quickle. Good luck.

Response:

I’ve been involved in producing a feature (listed below) and seem to be haveing a slight problem with a certain NY agent. The person is the films’  literary as well as actors agency. My problem is the person wants ALSO to be; 1. Assiciate producer 2. Casting director 3. and also wants to have an acting role in the film. When we first started putting this film together, my partner, who is also the writer and producer (like myself), didn’t know of the SAG rules listed below and agreed to the above. I called the NYC SAG office and they said that since that agency is SAG franchised, they can ONLY be defined as just that. They can only represent those actors that get the part(s) in the film. The agency IN NO WAY can have any active title assiciated with the film, especially "casting director", since that would be a conflict of interest. My question is since the agency’s wants are against union ruling, must we keep our original agreement with them? Thanks for your time.. "… a certain producer who can’t be identified at this tmie…"
