Audition/Monologue ideas for pre-teen girls

Question:

I have the opportunity to have my 3 daughters audition with a leading talent agency.  I have very little experience with the process and have been asked to have them prepare to do a 2 minute monologue suitable to their ages (6/9/11).  An

Use either commercial copy, for example the young girl selling juicy juice, or any other copy.  Otherwise, use television copy, i.e. a piece from  Full House or Eight is enough, or whatever.   And forget the 2 minutes.  30 seconds is plenty or the agent isn’t worth your time. Lollar

Please post more details, or email. It seems to me very unlikely that an agent would want to see all three sisters, odd that an agent wouldn’t simply talk to the kids and perhaps play with some imaginary situations, and extraordinary that an agent would want even an eleven-year-old to prepare a two-minute speech. The skills needed for television and film in general, and commercials in particular, bear no relation to the theatre abilities shown by a 2minute audition piece. How did you get the chance from the agent? What do you know about them? Where is this agent? Where are you? More details, and lay my fears to rest. — *  Peter Messaline is The TaxXman, an actor’s tax preparer (416)960-1785  * *   Not all the bulbs in the marquee are working, but he lives your life. *

The talent agency has asked that children that young prepare monologues?! Amazing, most unusual.  In fact, it is so unusual that I am astounded by it.  Kids that young are generally judged on their personality and cute looks and willingness to be playful around strangers. I worked on "Full House" and had a scene with those twins when they were younger.  They couldn’t remember the lines in the script, let alone a monologue! What city do you live in? Oh dear Lord, do NOT follow what Butt-scratchins said.  That agency is not looking for physical comedy or how well you can do such inane things, but like they told you; monologues.  They want to see how well they can come prepared, how well they recite and how well they will be able to put some feeling into it, young as they are.  Just please don’t do the 3 Stooges bit.  This guy, who is an admitted spammer, came in here this past summer and has been spouting crappie advice every since.  Now he’s trying to pass himself off as someone knowledgeable on the topic of acting. Just do an internet search for "children’s monologues" and see what comes up.  Then, go to your library and see if they have those particular books.
