TEEN LOOKING FOR AN AGENT!!!

Question:

I am a 13 male and am looking for an agent.  Please e-mail me with more info. Thanks, Travis

Response:

That all depends on where you live… The agents I have talked to are interested teens, so go for it!  Find out where there are agents in your area, write a letter and send it with apicture and resume.  If you live anywhere near NYC LA Chicago or any large city you can look in the yellow pages. Go to the library and find places to meet other actors, community shows, classes, etc.  They can fill you in on the local scoop. Good Luck! *the Ross Reports lists affilliated agents in the NY, New Jersey, Philadelphia and LA regions! — Surf Usenet at home, on the road, and by email — always at Talkway. http://www.talkway.com

Travis: No matter where you live, be aware of the scam artists out there.  You should not, under any circumstances have to pay for representation.  An agent will take a commission from the work you get, but that’s it.  They will need headshots to represent you, but don’t let them send you to "their" photographer. You should be given several choices of good photographers or allowed to choose your own.  Where do you live?  This will help others in this ng post more specific information about your location. Hey! Look under Theatrical Agents in yellow pages, but be CAREFUL!  If they tell you to get headshots and you dont have any, fine get them but dont give them any $$$!!!  aT YOUR AGE, OR mine (26) ANY EXPERIENCE IS GOOD EXPERIENCE so find out about local theatre groups and i guarentee you will get work at a nearby college’s film dept.  Once again I wish you the best of luck! Travis: Unfortunately, around here at least, legetimate talent and modeling agencies are listed in the Yellow Pages under Models. Also included in this group are the adult and X rated advertisers which will be of absolutely no help to you in an acting career.  So, you *have* to be extremely careful and selective as you look through.  Check the white pages for a SAG or Screen Actors Guild. (I’m really out of my depth here as I don’t know if SAG has a presense in Denver. Someone who knows, *please* tell Travis.)  Assuming they have an office, they will be able to send you a list of the franchised agents in the area. Vandi
