How the audition went…
Question:
I’m guessing, but I bet theme park auditions are very different than other monologue requested auditions. Origins in Comedia Del’Arte (sp?) or something. It probably is part clowning. Plus side: if you didn’t like the acting style they seemed to favor, you might not have enjoyed doing it. I hope we didn’t steer you wrong. Look for something else fun for the summer.Look at listings aimed at students and in acting trade papers for fun jobs. Would you like to be a camp drama counselor? There’s a lot of that. Whatever, start looking immediately, they hire in spring. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Heres how the theme park audition went…(I asked earlier in the week about a 1 min. comic monolog) I didn’t make it past the first cut. Those who did were very loud (yelling) and flailed alot in their monolog. Is this what it takes to get a job? I projected my voice but didn’t yell. And it was a small room too. I know if I did holler, that I would not have gotten the job (I looked down once, nervous and it was really cold, between that and my nerves, my voice cracked once). We were lined up in a room in front of a panel of 6 casting folks, along with the other 9 people in my group. You take turns performing your monolog in front of eveyone which I didn’t care for. Especially since towards the end it bacame a who could be the loudest and wackiest contest. One older fellow was terrific, but not loud(yelling), he was cut. I would like to hear about some others audition experiences. Bad and good. This was my first so I wasn’t expecting to get in, but I know I could do the job. Just keep on keepin’ on… Can’t wait to hear your stories! Lee
