Maybe I made it sound more important than it really is. But then, that’s a good thing, because self-promotion is another one of those things I’ve always been bad at. But going to auditions is one of the first things you do when you think you’re ready to start acting. I got on with this casting agent, and she said I should go audition, so I did. It’s a show called ‘Horacio’, about a white family that adopts an teenage hispanic boy who’s trying to change his life by getting away from the gangs he’s been running with. I auditioned for the part of the father, a middle-aged, medium-tall, medium-build fatherly looking type. Physically, I’m right on the money, but I have so little experience, I don’t know if they’ll call me back. If they do, it’ll be December 1st. Meanwhile, I’ll be auditioning tomorrow evening for the following part in a short film, "Terry (35-40) overnight news photographer. Been around the block knows overnight news extremely well. Been in the biz 10 years. Has wife & kid in the suburbs. Those who know him call him dr. Death. Gets off on the latest dead guy but not too much." That could be fun.

I suppose so. I just want to avoid being one of those guys who come here with "I’m really shy. I only had about 5 gfs in the past year, and now I’ve gone for two weeks without any because I broke up with my last gf a month ago, but at least we were having maintenance sex until she found another guy, and I’m so shy and ugly I don’t know if I can take being lonely for another week or so." > Keep it up

And so I shall.

Sure thing. It’s kind of weird how I can get up and do these auditions, and feel like I did a crappy job, but not really be embarrassed by it. I guess it’s the context, that it’s okay to do crappy when you’re starting out if you have an expectation of getting better, and it’s okay to be rejected even if you do well, because you might not be what they’re looking for. There’s a general lesson to be learned there, I think. Anyway, this last one, when I was practicing to be this homicide photographer, I thought I had it down, but when I got in front of the camera for the audition, I thought I was totally flat. But then the guy said "Good, can you try another line for another part?" So I did a cop with an explosive temper, "Don’t you ever sneak up like that on me again!" I did fairly well with that, but later I thought of ways I could have done it much better. Now it’s just a matter of waiting to see if I get a callback.

I think Drax is right, if you get on TV, you’ll have to beat ‘em off with a stick. Judging from your picture in the a.s.s gallery, I could see you  on TV. Go for it Dale! Andy
