Question:
Since I’m not an actor, I don’t know what "adjustments" mean or stand for or how it relates to acting, can somebody help me out and explain what "adjustments" mean? Or what does it entails? Thanx, Helen – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I’m confused. I just don’t know. But what am I supposed to think when I read a Casting Directors workshop class, and it sounds like an Acting Workshop Class?. Here’s a quote from one casting director named Billy Damota talking about another casting director who is giving a workshop class named Gary Zuckerbrod: "Over the course of the weekend, Gary will be teaching actors how to audition for TV and Film casting directors more effectively. The workshop will consist of working on cold reading technique as well as general acting process. Part of the weekend will be working on scenes, much like an acting class, as it relates to film and TV. Gary will give notes and adjustments to help actors improve in their auditioning skills." –Billy Damota on Gary Zuckerbrod class/workshop What does "much like an acting class" mean? And what is the difference between "how to audition more effectively" and "improving your auditioning skills"?? Isn’t that the same thing???? I think I got the answer to my question. The key words that was soooo cleverly put in is "give notes and adjustments". They had to throw that in. If you ever see those words "give notes and adjustments" used by someone advertising their casting director workshop, then it simply means they are just trying to pass themselves off as a "class". Much like an acting class. They figure, if they are giving *notes* then you must be Taking notes. So they are trying to pass themsleves off as a class instead of what you really came to see them in the first place, pay to audition, pay to be seen. It’s like wink wink, we’re giving notes, wink wink, are you taking notes. "give notes and adjustments" is just another devise. The Starmaker I believe in zero tolerance.

Sorry, maybe I shouldn’t have posted that link. I don’t want any actors going in there without their eyes open first. I hate anyone going somewhere where there just might be a den filled with wolfes preying on lifestock. Actors *still* have a need to be "seen by casting directors". And there are others out there still trying to fill that *need* one way or another just to get inside your pocketbook. You can tell who are the wolfes. They live and hunt in packs like wolfes preying on actors. How can you tell in today’s world if a casting director is just preying on you? Just read what they have to offer, (keep in mind they know you have a need to be "seen by casting directors"). That is what they are preying on. That is what draws you into their den. Usually, you’ll see a known casting director offering a "talk" on subjects that are suspect. Very weak subjects. Like: What They Look For In A Head-Shot (Like if you have any control what your headshot is going to look like.) I think they look for that "Sparkle" in your eyes. Get a photoshop plugin and add Sparkle in your eyes! What They Look For In A Resume (They want to see if you got a Jewish agent or an Iranian agent) Casting Directors are now giving acting lessons! (like if they know how to act and can teach it to you!!) I didn’t know Casting Directors learn acting or were capable of teaching acting, did you? Who should give acting lessons? Acting teachers or Casting Directors? Who should you learn cold reading techniques from? I don’t know the answer to that question because I’m not an actor. I do know that since it is illegal pay to audition or play, then casting directors will turn to giving lessons that you were already getting from acting teachers like cold reading technique as well as the general acting process. Just so they can continue to keep that money rollin in. I’m confused. I just don’t know. It reads to me like just trying to make something bigger than it already is. Very weak if you ask me. http://www.wolfesden.net/index.cgi/read/83290 I just don’t know. Something smells fishy. I guess "buyer beware" is in order. So if you go to that link, remember, it looks to me like a den of wolfes. Or wolves in casting directors clothing. But I could be wrong. Maybe I should quote Billy Damota’s web site, …DoNotPay! The Starmaker
