ken pitts judged and found lacking
Question:
Oh, I get it. Flame me and then say any reply I make is to be ignored. Black ? Why am I not all over CharlieSifford and LeeElder for breaking the color line ? Why am I not all over Vijay for daring to step outside his ethnic status and win the Masters ? What I cannot stand in the best player in the world is a foul-mouthed tantrum-thrower. Golf is more of an emotional roller-coater ride than most sports. If he wants to be regarded as a champion, he needs to start acting like one and cut out the profane outbursts on national TV. You never got a hint of this lame act from the greats of the past. Here is my post again: Due to our annual member-guest at my club (I was unable to play), I had occasion to play at one of the 5 municipal courses (117 holes) in FortWorth today. Golf inaccessible to young people ? Hardly. FortWorth has a program where a junior can pay a $100 annual membership fee and then each round played is $1. If a family can’t get that together for their little darling, they have serious problems anyway. Golf would be way down the list of priorities. Let’s shoot straight about this exlusion stuff. I saw groups and groups of minority players today. If a person wants to play golf, there is nothing to stop them. Period. Point out in that how I "lumped" underprivileged and minority. The two are clearly not linked. Every individual in our market economy is free to make it as far as he is willing to make it. The dead horse that gets beaten is that minority players are excluded. I say it’s not true and it has not been true in a lifetime of playing golf around here. I wish there was some way for you to spend some time at my club. The ethnic mixture looks just like that of the city in general. Everyone pays initiation and monthly dues. Why should it be any different ? It is run as a business. Otherwise, best regrds. Ken – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Being a newbie to this discussion group, I gave Ken the benefit of the doubt. He seemed to simply be someone with a warped sense of propriety who offered himself as a willing punching bag for the bullies around here. Yesterday, however, Ken started a thread about underpriviledged and minority kids — which he seems to lump together — having all they need to succeed at golf in Ft. Worth, Texas — so kindly stop bellyaching about trying to make golf more inclusive. Adding this to Ken’s unfathomable distaste for Tiger Woods, I can only come to one conclusion: Ken Pitts is a consummate elitist. I can’t go so far as to suggest he is a racist. I’m sure Ken would say that there are plenty of "good" black and Mexican people in the world, and he probably even is on speaking terms with a few — perhaps a few professional types who have made it into his "blue-collar" $3000 initiation, $3000-a-year golf club. But elitist is a word I can wholeheartedly apply to Ken. He just can’t stand it that a black man is the greatest golfer in the world today. It’s not just that he’s black — it’s just that it’s all so undignified. It just doesn’t look right. It’s so improper. And everytime Tiger lets loose with a curse, Ken’s sense of class-exclusion only gets reinforced. Now, Ken has already tried to make this into a liberal-conservative debate. You know…you liberals this, you liberals that. But this goes beyond any political differences. You can be a true conservative or a true liberal, and still agree about the important things in life. Like Golf! So that’s my Ken Pitts message. I will not counter-rebut any response. I can certainly ignore a poster on this discussion group without PLONKING him. Before you buy.

Look Rob the Troll, I, like 99% of the other RSG’ers are just sick of all the "lets bait Ken" threads, which you are a MAJOR contributor. I post when I have something to say, unlike you trollmaster.
