Great thread, VegBoy! I’m feeling down right now about all the negative things that have been happening in my life, but I can definately be thankful for the following (and more): Finding *the* someone in this world I can love and who loves me back! 4 great kids. Each with their own very surprising personalities. It has been through watching them grow, seeing how they interpret the world, that I have gained insight in to how I came to be the person I am. Having insurance that has kept many of the "negative things" from totally destroying my family. Working in an industry, that while it has its downs, is a cake-walk compared to other people’s jobs. Living in a country that allows me at least *some* degree of freedom of acting on my own ideas, resources allowing. Being insulated from so many of the evils in the world that I’m discovering just how naive I am. Having a life that has shown me just how wonderful a thing even a small amount of love and concern (acted upon!) can be. Being given the opportunity of seeing what is really important in this world. Being given the hope that I can grow myself into the person I want others to be. Being given the hope that I can show these things to my children, so they won’t have to waste so many years in ignorance and misery. ASD. Through ASD, you guys, I am able to show more and more of my warts, turmoils, and inner ugliness over time. ASD is giving me the strengthe to open the lid on pandora’s box. Opening the lid is necessary so the evils can be faced, and hopefully, dispatched. ASD allows me to reach out to others (although I still only do this rarely) and realize that trying to help others takes more strength than I ever thought. Thanks to VegBoy for starting a thread that gave me a little pick-up!

I’m thankful that my kids go to nice, clean, soft warm beds every night. I’m thankful that they aren’t beaten or abused, and when they ask for a drink of water, I can give them clean water in a clean glass. I’m thankful that I can provide healthy, nutritious, safe food for them, even if they only eat one bite and leave the rest.  At least it’s there, and lots of it if they want it. I’m thankful that they have parents that read stories to them and sing songs to them at bedtime. I’m thankful that I have a job that has paid for shelter, food and clothing.  Nobody has gone hungry, homeless or without much of anything under my care. I’m thankful that I’m not personally affected by floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, famine, pestilence, or other natural disasters, by luck of geography, luck of birth, and just luck. I’m thankful that I have been able to provide a loving, safe, fun, clean, warm, happy, nurturing environment for my kids.  They don’t know anything else, and I hope they never do. I’m thankful that I had two special people in my life, and I was able to name my children after each of them. I’m thankful for my friend Kevin.  Everybody should have a friend like him. ASD.  I’m thankful for ASD.  I’m the luckiest man alive.
