Robin's butt
Question:
Anyhow, you know what I mean. Maybe it’s time for some realism in the repair shows. Hell, a few of the host/hostesses even pretend to swing a hammer, why not go for the full monty?
Slender women have proportionally narrow waists. More difference in circumference between the belt-bearing area and the hips, therefore less likely to develop plumber’s butt. To see female butt crack on TV, you’d need to find yourself a woman with a big beer gut. Men, OTOH, have the opposite effect. Belt-bearing area is larger than the hips, or else belt is buckled below gut and gut exerts downward force. Plumber’s butt is eminent. Skinny guys have fewer problems, but how many of us DON’T have a little bit of a gut? I’m down to only 15 pounds over my ideal weight and I still can’t get rid of the spare tire. — D. She is, in my mind. Ahh, the fantasy skills never dull.

[snip] Here I’ve been following this thread all this time and now that I’ve finally surfed over to their web site I see that it’s the wrong woman. My favorite is on some other dumb home-improvement show. Then again, I rarely watch the idiot box, and when I do, SWMBO always makes me click past all the somewhat interesting looking shows in favor of such garbage as Geraldo and Jerry Springer. — D. Her hair then was much longer, and even wearing a long wool coat she was absolutely stunning. Very beautiful. Perfect smile. I still watch every week. Absolutly stunning? Perfect Smile? Of course! Why do you thing Dean hired her? Looking that way is her job. It’s what she does for a living. She’s throughly professional about her looks.

Hey guys, calm down, Robin is history on Hometime. Dean’s got a new gal, and Robin has her own show. This happened a year or so ago but you still get the Dean and Robin reruns on some stations.

This is straight off the HomeTime web site: Robin Hartl Robin was born in Richmond, Virginia, and moved frequently with her family as a child, but she spent her teenage years in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. There she earned a real estate license and spent two years selling real estate. After that, she moved to Minneapolis and worked in the commercial insurance business for 8 years, while renovating homes in her off-time. Pursuing a childhood dream, she began taking acting lessons in 1991 and went to work as an actress and a model. She joined Hometime in July 1992, and her first program aired in January 1993. IMHO, Dean screwed up when he got rid of JoAnne Liebeler. Someone in this group posted a mesaage saying that the first woman on his show was a contractor. NOT TRUE!!! The first co-host was Peggy Knapp. She was and is to my knowledge just a professional TV program host. I think she is hosting Newtons Apple now. JoAnne Liebeler was second, was there for like 4 seasons. Wish she still was, she was the best. After JoJo, there was some chick, suzy or suzanne or something. She was on only like one season. And Robin Hartl has been there since. In fact, I believe that Robin was the only one with any experience prior to starting with Dean. She used to be a remodle contractor, or remodled houses for herself, or something like that. But, IMHO, JoJo was and is the best. She has learned alot over the years and seems to have her stuff together. Besides that, who can stand hearing Dean and Robin grunting all the time. Have you ever noticed that? Everytime they pick up anything from a 2×4 to a hammer they grunt like they are straining themselves. Allthough Dean has not been married to anyone of them, it has to make you wonder about him. I cant remember, it may have been on their web page that I read they try to convey the image of being together intentionally to assist the husband/wife do-it-yourselfers out there. If it has to do with tools, in my house it is just me. The wife wants nothing to do with them. Everytime there is a project I want her to help with, she askes if we just can’t hire someone. By far though, JoJo’s new show is much better than Hometime. And even at that, just like Dean and Bob Villa, they are geared to things not suited for true woodworkers. Someday maybe there will be a show by a true woodworker, and dont start the Norm stuff. He is okay, but he cant build a thing unless he uses drywall screws. You always see him gluing up stuff "and just simply putting in drywall screws to hold it in place till it cures" He was a contractor, that through working with Villa got alot of cool dools from Delta. He still needs to learn how to glue.

I vote for Joanne Liebler as well. Cute, funny and seems to know what she is talking about. Looks pretty good in a bathing suit too!!!

None of these woman are carpenters. People seem to forget that those shots of them doing something on the program are just split second shots and they do very little actual work. If you don’t believe this, take a look at their finger nails. No one who does any serious work would have such neatly manicured nails as they all do.

What about ‘The American Woodworker’. Seems pretty geared to woodworkers to me.

I can’t watch "JoJo’s" show at all, not because of the supposed "technical merit" of the show, but simply because of her. She had a good thing with Hometime, esp. for someone with no skills. But she got it into her head that "she was meant for more", and left Hometime to create a career in stand-up, I believe. She bombed, badly. It was then that she decided to "come back" to home improvement. I felt the same way when David Caruso (sp?) left NYPD Blue for "the big time in movies" and then slunked back to TV a little bit ago
I can’t understand people like that.

JoAnne Liebeler was Hometime’s second co-host, and she stayed with the show for four seasons after which she moved to the west coast to pursue other acting opportunities. She says the competition is tough and jobs are difficult to come by, but she loves the area and plans on staying in California. Some of you may have seen JoJo on "Room for Change" on the HGTV cable network. A collection of clips, including an interview and bloopers of JoAnne’s years on Hometime is available on the Farewell to Jo Jo Video. Our very first co-host was Peggy Knapp. She began in 1986, but left after the first season. Since then, Peggy has been hosting Newton’s Apple, a public television children’s program, produced by KTCA in St. Paul, MN. Susanne Egli joined the show after JoAnne left, and she stayed with Hometime for one season. She has since been acting in regional theater and appearing in commercials.

Me too. No, I don’t look pretty good in a bathing suit. I mean I vote for Joanne too, also, as well. Especially when she braids her hair. Love that bridle … er … braid. bubba — Give some people an inch and they think they’re a ruler!

JoAnne Liebeler left on her own. She was pursuing a career in stand-up comedy. JoAnne Liebeler was second, was there for like 4 seasons. Wish she still was, she was the best.
I find JoAnne’s voice a bit irritating at times. However, I do like her and watch her new show Home Savvy. But I wish she would stop with the stupid jokes and innuendos. After JoJo, there was some chick, suzy or suzanne or something. She was on only like one season.
This was Suzanne Eglee (SP?) Besides that, who can stand hearing Dean and Robin grunting all the time. Have you ever noticed that? Everytime they pick up anything from a 2×4 to a hammer they grunt like they are straining themselves.
Thank you so much for mentioning this. I find this so irritating, sounds like they’re having a bowel movement. By far though, JoJo’s new show is much better than Hometime. And even at that, just like Dean and Bob Villa, they are geared to things not suited for true woodworkers.
Personally, I don’t watch Hometime anymore. I never learn anything from that show. They basically describe things they are doing, but they teach or show you nothing.

Firstly, I’m not a big Robin’s _____ (<- your choice here) fan. Nothing against her, as she seems nice enough. OK, now we’ll move past the disclaimer. . . I don’t mean to go off sounding like a caveman’s Andy Rooney (sp?), but how many times have ‘ya almost lost your lunch because you turn your head, and get an eyefull of "repairman’s crack"? It’s always the big, fat, hairy-backed types, never an attractive woman. One time I was eating lunch in a restaurant that had a lunch counter with stools. . . Anyhow, you know what I mean. Come on Guys… this is a family oriented group. All of the women that Dean has had on have been good looking; the first one (Peggy?) was a professional carpenter and quite a bit better than Dean (so she had to go quickly). I just wish the current crop of ladies would go to a tech school or go out with a carpenter and learn to hold a hammer by the end instead of the middle of the handle.

Hometime on Discovery and TLC . The show pretends to be a husband and wife doing remodeling . Robin is the one with the ‘perkies’ and the ‘cute butt’ . The other one is Dean . Compared to some of the women doing ‘How To TV’ ( especially on Gimme Shelter ) she’s a gem . At times, I believe she knows – how to . A pretty bright woman .
