Enough ego stroking….

Question:

Eeew. Panty "Waste" is now stuck in my mind. Thanks Don. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – You think this NG is bad? Check out "alt.autos.dodge.trucks" sometime. I had just bought a 1997 Dakota to go with my Wellcraft last year and didn’t have an owner’s manual. I subscribed to the Dodge trucks NG just to see what I could find. Yeah! First message I read was from some kid who’s gramps had left him a Dodge 4X4 truck and he was asking about "how do I shift it?" You should have read the negative, filled with 4-letter words, replies that hit him. Talk about egos and redneck "real man" people. I unsubscribed the next day after more similar messges. Sick people abound on NGs protected by their terminals, and your little cheese?) by comparison. - Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – What? this NG is for getting info? Looking at the majority of the questions asked, and the replies given, I’m surprised anyone would even waste their time. If you ask a question about a boat that cost’s less than 50 grand on this NG, you get a smarta** reply that doesn’t have any relevance to the question. What news group are you reading.  Seems to me that most well formed questions that have enough information in them to explain the situation receive informed, helpful, and even (dare I say it) polite answers.

Some questions have been asked so many times, most of those who know the answers simply don’t want to bother typing in the responses again. Some questions are so incredibly stupid, only someone equally as stupid might offer an answer. An example of the former: What’s the best boat? Some questioners have a chip on their shoulders and it doesn’t pay to respond. Example: I just bought a 14′ Whatever and see so reason why I shouldn’t put a 225 hp YamaRude on the transom. What’s that rating plate that says "No More than 10 HP" mean, anyway, to a tough guy like me. I used to post long answers to what I thought were decently presented, sincere boating questions. But, I noticed, certain posters would find one word or phrase in that long post they didn’t like, go off on a tangent and that would be the end of the subject under discussion. Incidentally, I just took a peek over at BoaterEd. If vapidity is to your liking, it has a lot of it. — Harry Krause Pursuing non-domesticated migratory waterfowl

Don will claim it was deliberate but we know better. People like that are the reason we have middle fingers

Response:

ACTUALLY it was meant as a joke ’cause you were talking about people bashing other people because of their ISP’s and such.  But since YOU , SON, took it so seriously, then I have no further comment.

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – hmmmmffff!!  another freeweb(loader) hotmail dude. And your point, son? I happen to have SEVERAL accounts. I choose to use the hotmail one here so you twits (you know who you are, see sentence above)don’t bombard me with your your childish comments (see above) that serve no purpose except to stroke the little baby ego that you have. What’s the deal, Steve, is trashing people who want to talk about boating YOUR personal phallic symbol for what you truly lack? Or is it that your not intelligent enough to actually talk about a SUBJECT?

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – This is terrible. Some people come here looking for information, knowledge, etc. Then, just because they own a certain kind of boat, or use a certain ISP, they are instantly treated like trash. The ones doing the trashing sound like little grade school kids. "My daddy can beat up your daddy." And, just like grade school kids, it is all about stroking their own egos. In my opinion, a boat that takes you where you want to go, and gets you back, is a good boat. Why should ANY of you care whether I have a jon boat with a 5hp kicker on it, or a Penn Yan? Come on, you guys, your acting like 5 year olds. You all know who you are. Stop whining, Jim. There’s little worse than a whiner. Go rescue some folks who want to be rescued, JimDandy. As I stated before, some people are just like grade school kids, and have the same mentality. See Harry’s reply above, I think it speaks for itself!!

Jim: I know what you mean.  I had a simular response about a boat recommendation, but when I asked one of the people you are probably talking about off NG about his opinion, he gave a very knowledgeble response which helped me in my quest. That run-on sentence said… I agree with you, but if you disagree with the banter which goes on here just ask a straight up question designed to get past the "my boat is better than yours" squables. I wonder if the hi-fi groups go through this? (P.S. I still bought the most boat I could by with my budget ;-) (Maybe not the highest quality and creature features, but I’m out there in relative comfort)
