Question:

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello, Just don’t want you guys to forget about me.  I have just about fallen off the side of the earth, but not quite.  Just workin my sorry butt off and trying to stick to my "temporary banning self of newsgroups and anything else enjoyable in life".  But I’m ok, the cats are ok, and Pete is fine. And only another 2 weeks approximately. This is a day for us.  7am-ish: Muggles starts acting like a moron, jumping all around the bedroom and scratching everything.  He wants food.  Pete feeds him, or I feed him, and then he eats and continues acting like a moron chirruping until Kid will come and play.  So then 2 cats are bounding all over acting like morons.  Pillow over the head, try to sleep. 9am: Kid’s "Jen, wake up!" call.  She walks down the entire length of my body, and bunts my face, head butting me until I will wake up and cuddle her.  She doesn’t stop.  I get up.  Pete is usually already up and mostly ready for work (he works web dev, so of course no regular start time). I sit down at the computer, start some work. Continue until I need to take bus to school (start time 1pm).  Go to school, sign in, come back home (all my dev work is at home cause my school sucks and doesn’t have proper tools).  I work until sometime between 7 and 9 pm when pete comes home.  We eat.  I come back to the computer, and work solid until between 3am and 5 am.  Then I go to sleep for a couple hours, until the cats wake us up and the cycle starts again. So yes, I am one of those disgusting sleep deprived caffeine oozing monitor-tan computer geeks.  Ha ha ha!!  But it is funny, because recently Kid has started sneaking behind me on the piano keyboard (it is electric) and I don’t notice her until she jumps over onto my shoulder (aaaugh!) and then climbs down my chest and onto my lap.  She’ll turn a little circle, and then collapse her kitty butt into the crook of my arm, and gaze up like "hi there!".  Then she’ll just sit there, and just… keep me company.  It’s very nice… she hasn’t done that much before – she was cuddly before, but even more so now.  Oh my gawsh!!!  Her birthday is in 2 weeks and she’ll officially be a CAT! And Muggles has started to lay on my monitor ALL the time.  It is so irritatating, but a lil cute.  He is so big, but such a sexy boy.  And I swear he is trying to learn English.  He has the weirdest meows, and it sounds a little like he is trying to form words.  You talk to him, and he’ll chirp back at you, and sometimes try to move his lil cat lips so he can try making a word.  I think it’s "food".  And he wants to tell your cats that "Dick Van Patten makes a kick ass dinner."  (natural balance – he is crazy about it.) And Britta, I swear I will get a "next installment" soon.  Kid keeps pestering me she needs to send her luv note to her Vino. OK, I think I should go get ready for my bus ride to school.  It is snowing here in Vancouver – has been a LOT recently and we have lots of white stuff on the ground.  Not really usual for here I guess. Anyway, I hope everyone is fine, and I am thinking of you guys. BTW: my BIG presentation final everything-depends-on-this is on Feb.15th at 11:00am.  I need purrs like you wouldn’t believe.  I am so nervous (why is my brain saying "20 solid years of school boiling down to 20 minute presentation of work"?). Feb.21st is my graduation day, and  you are all invited.  420 Homer St Vancouver BC Canada at 4pm.  (seriously, any vancouver lurkers, or friends you may have who are here who you can tell or whatnot or really bored people with time to spare and a large chunk of money asking to be blown on a plane trip to vancouver – please come!!! the more the merrier) Take care, Jen, Muggles and Kid

Purrs, purrs, purrs, Jen.  Just keep in mind the ultimate goal; get through with school so you will have time to chat again!  ;-)       Krista

Sounds like they are trying to help you with your homework. But too long a time at such high intensity takes its toll. Me too… I am thinking I really have to… very nice… she hasn’t done that much before – she was cuddly before, but even more so now.  Oh my gawsh!!!  Her birthday is in 2 weeks and she’ll officially be a CAT! Aww! How sweet! Happy Birthday, Kid!

Reminds me of the day we picked her up from the shelter – and she got a trip to Costco in my coat (with the little golf ball sized head sticking out by my neck) and stole a chicken wing (for 2 seconds – the first of *many* food-theivings) at my sister in laws all the same day. presentation of work"?). The beliving part is important… yes… I will do just what you say.  I think it will be alright… a lot of the time before public presentations and such (I actually did one yesterday of a bunch of our work at a school wide assembly… I fought to get it presented and they said "fine – then you have to host the thing") — I am nervous before it, and then right before the start, I lose all nervousness and run on adrenaline or whatnot.  Does this happen to anyone?  I am just counting on that to happen on the big day and hopefully it will! Congratulations!!  I will be there virtually. Many, many hugs and purrs.

Thank you!  I am imaging the day, and seeing a whole bunch of semi-transparent virtual kitties all around my feet.  I have more people and cats on my side than judging the presentation (five people) so I feel good =) Thanks, Jen. (muggles and kid are off sleeping).

Response:

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Wow, Jen.  That sounds like quite the busy schedule you have there.  I can’t even imagine staying up till 5 am, not even for New Year’s! Purrs and headbutts for your big presentation.  Hope all goes well.  I know it’s a tough program, my friend Bruce went there and graduated a few years ago and it was hell!   I’ll be thinking of you graduating for sure ’cause it’s my 6th wedding anniversary on Feb 21st :-) Wish I could make it to Vancouver, that would be something to see the snow!  Has the whole city shut down yet?  I’m surprised to hear that the busses still seem to be running… Oh, and Vino says to hurry up with the latest installment.  He’s getting Kid withdrawal symptoms which are manifesting themselves in extreme bratty behaviour….argh! — Britta Check out recent pictures of Vino at: http://photos.yahoo.com/badwilson click on Vino and "friends" album Check Vino’s website (older pictures) at: http://www.members.home.net/badwilson/catpage.html

Wow – did he take the new media program too?  All the programs are pretty stressful here (the 3d program more so)… but I must say most of the stress has fallen this final 7 week term.  It’s all pretty well self induced though, I must admit… oh well. The snow is pretty much gone now – it warmed up and started raining.  It was really pretty though while it lasted – and was weird becuase it seemed to go off and on for about a week.  I think Seattle had it worse than us it seems though. Ha ha!  That Vino… it must be all Kid’s fault because Muggles is a HUGE brat too.  Particularly this morning. Talk and picture you soon, Jen.

Thank you so much!  I know it works… and all the virtual kitties there I can get the better… trip to vancouver – please come!!! the more the merrier) Sorry, can’t quite make it to Vancouver, but I could make it to a web-cam & chat party if it goes fairly late. Any chance?

I think it must have been.  I can’t remember what it was called, but it had a lot to do with computers, graphic design, web page stuff… Bruce says that at the time there were certain people who were pretty much living at the school, sleeping in the halls for a few hours, because they had so much work they couldn’t even make it home! Bruce is now developing web sites for some kind of on-line gambling company.  He’s not excactly happy to be having to work for a moraly dubious place like that, but with the job market in Vancouver being what it is, it’s hard to find work in the field. — Britta Check out recent pictures of Vino at: http://photos.yahoo.com/badwilson click on Vino and "friends" album Check Vino’s website (older pictures) at: http://www.members.home.net/badwilson/catpage.html

I’m so glad Kid and Muggles are being there for you. You really are tempting me with the invitation to your graduation – I’d love to be there. But on the other hand I doubt Soncek would be very thrilled if he had to fly with me all the way to Canada and no more thrilled if I left him here for a few days. How do you explain to a cat you are going to a graduation? I’m sure he’d say: "Stay with me, meowmie" and this is exactly what I’d do. But I am thinking of you, Jen, and am looking forward to the story about your graduation, — Polonca & Soncek

Yes, most definitely a long time to come and to leave Soncek.  Of course, Soncek is invited too =)  but a loooong plane ride without a litterbox!  I thought of bringing a cat with me to the presentation actually.  It’d be pretty funny to be up there with 2 cats sitting on the table next to me!! Thanks for the kind words.

Wow, Jen.
