thugs

Question:

Something is already done, at least with those who fly to or within the United States. Upon arrival at the gate, the thugs are arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. What would be the point of having the police monitor such activity while a flight is in progress? Its not like the police, or anyone else, can fly up, meet the plane, board it, and than remove the thugs from the flight.

I read somewhere that if the thug is obnoxious enough that they will divert to the nearest airport and the idiot will be arrested there. — Paul D. SPAM filter in use, figure it out.

That happened once on a CO flight to London.  They diverted to BGR so the thug could be  arrested.

Does any body agree with me that there should be something done about thugs. Who are let on a plane then put passangers and crew at risk.  With their agression, i think something should be done about it police should have better links with airports and monitor well known trouble makers.  Then it might make the journys more safer.

I don’t know if you have been living in a place with no newspapers and only a one-way connection to the internet, but THE POLICE DO HAVE A VERY CLOSE CONNECITON to just about all airports.  In fact, they have such a close connection that some people say that their relationship with the airports is such that they are violating people’s civil rights.  dave

My community had a problem with rowdiness on school buses.  So every bus was installed with a camera and tape was placed in a few different buses daily randomly to record passengers (not all buses were taping all day because of $$$)  The kids did not know whether they were being taped or not so behaved exceptionally well.  Point is, perhaps we should have cameras on the plane to deter jerks from acting themselves.

Does anyone really think that recording everyone’s actions (no matter whether they actually do anything or not) is a valid way to advance society — or are we just being "naive" to think that keeping the world away from an Orwellian society is possible

Cameras would be nice, but there are already flight attendants and many passengers who can serve as witnesses in the event of unlawful behavior on a flight. Rowdiness on commercial airlines is a fairly uncommon event and there are avenues in place now to deal with people who misbehave on airlines so the best added prevention is improving education, as was already suggested in this thread.

I thought you were talking about the baggage handlers when I saw that subject line  ;-) Ed R.

Also, I believe its BA, if you are acting rowdy they hand you a "yellow card" putting them on probation for the remainder of the flight and warning them that if behaviour continues they will be given a "red card" ensuring arrest at airport.  JAL is permitted to tape them shut.  Its funny how 1 person can misbehave but because of the atmosphere 100-200 people will just look on without doing anything about it.  (Course the last thing you want is it a riot midair)

I think the answer is better education.  This would enable would-be thugs to to avoid sentence fragments and to utilize proper punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.   It might also help them to hone a relevant point out of what would otherwise be a useless pile of babble.
