Ok, folks, it’s where it belongs. See http://www.heartistry.org and click on the appropriate spot for the article…….
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Bill, couple of observations about your notes. Thanks, by the way, for your kind comments about the quality of the article. Please see my responses below: Dear Chad, Thanks, Chad, for sending me by private email the article. What a shame that it wasn’t available for download when I explored (by your invitation on alt.acting) your website. I’ve read it and it’s not bad. In fact, it incorporates a lot of basic points I learned from Bobby Lewis, Stella Adler and other masters in the 60s. Bill, my original posting indicated that the reader could receive the free our web site. I quote from my posting: "Get a free copy of a published that should produce an automatic response to the sender. Apparently, the automatic part is failing. So, if any readers want a copy, I will make sure is on our page, front and center. Even tho’ it wasn’t originally designed for that, your idea is a good one, Bill. Like I said, it’s not bad, and perhaps it provides some clues to beginning actors and playwrights. With your permission, I’ll tack the article on the bulletin board of The Acting Studio this next week. I have a lot of new actors at the moment who are not ready for my course on text and character analysis. Go ahead and post it. Glad you think it will be useful. Please do so with a link or reference to our site and e-mail. Just let us know when you do so. Thanks. You cover the groundwork of the questions actors should ask in reading a play and exploring a character. I’ve done much the same in my Studio handouts and my manuscript which includes examples from sample texts. Unlike you, I keep my materials for my actors and for publication…. so you’re certainly more generous than I. Anything one might read on my website is already published and copyrighted. This article is also copyrighted by us. Please reference that, too, thanks. I suppose that my initial reaction to you first post was compounded by the fact that your website deals with theatre for Christians. I personally don’t have a problem with that…. I’m a former Catholic, and even when I earned my union cards, and taught MA acting, I would occasionally volunteer my skills for the local Catholic Church…. staging short plays with religious themes and coaching lectors and readers. I don’t do that anymore, no, not because I’ve lost my sense of spirituality, rather just because I’m getting on in years, and I have to concentrate on the work that pays the bills…. union work and coaching. The one thing, Chad, that I would have preferred you to do when you posted on alt.acting about the free article on text analysis was that….. you had made a full disclosure….. that you are a Christian organization committed to using theatre for both spiritual purposes, and that the free article is also an invitation to buy books…. maybe tapes…. maybe take a workshop or a seminar. Not sure there’s really a difference in acting skills between theatre on the secular stage and that seen on the Christian stage. At least, we don’t think there should be! We have created our organization with the commitment to excellence and hope that others join us. Our posting was not designed to "sucker punch" any readers. Not a bad article, Chad, and if you’ve fixed the download glitch, then by all means, re-invite alt.acting actors to get the free download. The article will be available by tomorrow, if nothing goes wrong on the site! :) Check it out to see if you can get it and report back when you get time. http://www.heartistry.org Again, Bill, thanks for your review. Chad Break a leg, Bill PS. I do some stuff to pay the bills once and awhile. Going the studio Tuesday to record the beginning of an audio book voice over for some folks at a national company. Who knows? Might be able to eat this next week….

Dear Chad, Apparently, the automatically responding article did not make to the e-mail box. The article is primarily about acting and how to evaluate the script’s characters. Sorry, if this proved to be misleading.

The article IS a bonifide article that you would need to subscribe to a particular magazine to receive, so it has value as a FREE response. Take it for what it is worth. Let me know what you think of it.

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Dear CHM…. Direct your actors through better script analysis. Help them become more believable. Get a free copy of a published article by contacting performance! never found the free copy of a published article on script analysis. However, I did find offers for books (with money back guarantees, if dissatisfied) dealing with Christian Theatre Arts. Don’t get me wrong, this is a free society, and this is an unmoderated newsgroup, and it’s your right to talk about what you do. But kindly be a little more forthcoming. In times past, I’ve directed and staged works for several Catholic churches, and I love this work, sinner that I am, and I encourage you to do what you do. But 99% of the folks on this ng are focusing on secular work…. that doesn’t mean that you can’t share with them your particular vision, but please, please, for your own sake, do it honestly, upfront….. or tactfully at the end of the post. (Oh, by the way…. we do Christian Ministry.) You might lose a few, but you might gain a few in your mission. And if you really DO have a free article on script analysis, then by all means, send it to me (see my website below) and I’ll critique it and also send you my published article on Character Analysis. Quid pro quo. And I’ve gotta add…. you have a lot of guts to even surface on an ng like alt.acting. Deja vu….. it’s Sodom and Gomorra all over again. <g . Stick with you mission, so your art, but the next time, be just a tad more honest about freebies on your website. breakaleg, Bill — THE ACTING STUDIO http://gvtg.com/theactingstudio
