Macarena Disco mix
Question:
- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I think Bono has really lost it now. Dave Fanning the Irish DJ played the most pathetic U2 song yesterday. Bono said it was a joke but I don’t think it’s that funny at all. After the greatness of War and Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby this just sounds pathetic. Discotheque with samples of the Macarena and some weird song called "macho man" sampled over it. Now personally I like Discotheque but this is just too much. The Macarena sucks and now U2 does as well. The worst part is that I heard it on short wave radio and got really excited. Fanning said that Bono was in the studio and he was going to play a new mix of Discotheque.I freaked out and sat in front of the short wave for about twenty minutes before Bono came on. He was acting like a smart-ass and he said that some of their fans, "just wouldn’t get it, but we need to progress." I don’t call it progression, I call it regression. Crap really. I have a copy of half of the song and will be putting it on the web soon…as soon as I can figure out how to upload it. YOu have been warned… matt page
Hmm, you don’t suppose that this may have been a hoax or joke on the part of the radio station do you? Macho Man was a Village People song, BTW. It is not uncommon for radio stations (at least in America) to take a new song and play with it a bit. I suspect that this is what happened to you, my friend. I think it unlikely that U2 would release a new mix of the song only to your station, and have Bono make a special appearance just for it. Wake up. Sheesh, I used to think I was gullible, but this… — Gravely, Undertaker "The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight but has no vision" – Hellen Keller

Hmmm… its good to see that not all U2 fans are tight-assed or humorless. Personally, I’m waiting for the New Kids on the Block Discotheque mega-mix. Hochachtungsvoll, Erik Missio
