I got to the Hollywood Park Racetrack around 7:15 a.m. There were info booths and food booths galore. Pizza, hotdogs, soda, chocolate milk, yogurt, veggie chips, pretzels, coffee, donuts, cakes, bagels and cream cheese, candy. I’m not sure which is gonna hurt me more later on…my legs or my stomach. It was perfect weather all through the walk. The course was set up for options. You could go 5 miles, 3 miles or if you had someone in a wheelchair there was a 2 mile walk. I went the full 5 miles. oy vay! The Hosts Steve Edwards — tv host Leeza Gibbons — tv host Guest Appearances Shelley Fabares — actress ** George Takei — actor Bryan Cranston — actor David Hyde Piece — actor Rafer Johnson — Olympic Champion and Special Olympics Ambassador Lea Thompson — actress And a Lucy Ricardo (I Love Lucy) look-a-like. She was such a hoot. Looked alot like Lucille Ball and sounded so much like her. Had Lucy Ricardo down to a tee. Was there to cheer us on as we came across the finish line. ** When Shelley Fabares spoke she mentioned the walkathon last year that she participated in. She had been sick 6 years prior to that and a few days after that she had a liver transplant. She when she said she was glad to be here, she really meant it. Had a raffle. Mountain bike, huuuge fish tank with fish, round trip airline tickets to anywhere in the world, weekend in San Francisco, and many others. All in all it was a great day. Bottom line…the event raised over half a million dollars for alzheimers research. That is the best part. Will I do this walk next year. YOU BET!
