I offended some provincial actors in an Irish pub

Question:

It ended with the actress stamping her fist on the table and doing a pretty good ‘indignation’.

Don’t talk to Irish girls with feet for hands I don’t know what the last straw was.

Martini?  Perhaps it was when I suggested that Beckett had copped out by leaving so much to the actor.

Not decent scripts, surely? Then I said (I think) that the actor subsequently cops out by reverting to either ‘the message is obvious’ or an ‘enigma’ variation. They can’t say – "I think it’s bullshit too" because that brings the whole theatrical mirage too much down to earth.

More Martini’s? Previously I’d criticized Iris Murdoch as not really knowing what she was saying when she reviewed JP Sartre’s ‘Nausea’ as (LOL) "a young man’s tour de force".
