The hell with Spruce Creek? Anyone on this group live there? Travolta, 48, lived in the Fly-In from 1989 to the mid-1990s, and owned several lots there until last year. The upscale, gated community is in unincorporated Volusia County, west of Port Orange. The actor married his wife, actress Kelly Preston, at the Volusia County Courthouse Annex on City Island in Daytona Beach in September 1991. Their son, Jett, was born at Halifax Medical Center the following April. Travolta had a well-publicized clash with his neighbors at the Fly-In in 1992 and 1993. The Fly-In’s homeowners association sought to ban Travolta’s Gulfstream II jet, saying it was too heavy and noisy for the Fly-In’s runway. But Travolta won in court and was allowed to continue flying the jet in and out of the Fly-In. He sold his house in the Fly-In in 1994. Speculation grew that he might build another home after he bought two lots, in addition to one that he already owned. But he sold the three lots last year for $1.025 million. Last fall, the actor donated one of his personal planes — a Canadair CL41 Tutor — to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. At that time, Travolta still owned and piloted the Gulfstream II and a Boeing 707-138B.
