voice-over database – listings for talent are free

Question:

Peter *did* say it was a personal opinion, and while I applaud anyone industrious enough to set up sites and page which catalog actors, I haven’t met a producer yet who combs through them for talent.  I ask them during sessions. I book v/o through agencies and sending out samples. But hey, more power to your efforts. Coop – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -I apologize for the rude message I sent before but I was very offended by the comments of Peter Messaline. I’m going to visit their website, but why would a voice producer go to an open website, set up a search for his immediate area, male, folksy, get a list of possibles, call them up and invite them to audition … When he could call a breakdown service and be sent possibles, pre-searched, guaranteed to be available. Or simply call in one of his ‘old reliables’, with whom he likes working and who he knows can do the job?

Response:

I apologize for the rude message I sent before but I was very offended by the comments of Peter Messaline. To criticize a website without ever been there is something I simply cannot understand. CPV’s database contains about 2.300 actors and actresses (more than 1.000 are union) and if something would be not OK with our service, somebody would have posted it here already. We do not promise any jobs, we just offer actors and broadcasters free inclusion of their voice samples in our database (like Yahoo and Altavista offer free inclusion of a website in their database.) There are plenty of companies who charge actors for setting up voice samples and ergo, most of them offer just a handful of actors. We are very thankful for any constructive criticism but please visit us first. Dear Peter Messaline: What kind of idiot writes a critique about a website before he actually visited it? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – : CPV maintains the world’s largest fully searchable voice-over database with : thousands of experienced (union and non-union) voice over talent.
