Calling NYC based actors/film makers!

Question:

Ah, yes, I remember your post very well! Your last name is something like Sundaram, correct? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Yes, I go to Queens College. up: Hi, Actually, I don’t even pretend to offer exposure.. I guess I’m worse than a dog in your book! Seriously, my plan is simply to gather a bunch of people together and learn and grow off of each other.. Yes, I have scripts but it’s not about making my silly, amateurish shorts.. It’s about actors being able to practice in front of a camera, amateur sound engineers being able to apply things they’ve read about into real world situations, and everyone hopefully enjoying the euphoria that comes with making art.. I’m very much for trying anything and everything in a low risk environment (no dead-lines, no financial pressures, etc.) so free-form is something that I’d like to do as often as possible.. My credentials.. Hmm, yes, I’m a media studies student.. Yes, I know how to edit… But I don’t have any "credentials." I’ve finished a few short films but nothing I would be proud of submitting to any festivals yet – I think my original post was pretty clear – I’m a newbie that wants to grow.. So, anyways, it’s cool that you’re skeptical – I don’t blame you.. But I wonder what warrants the skepticism in this case – my original post never promised anything to anyone. Thank you and take care -Sam Sam, are you the Queens College kid who posted earlier this summer? Tao te Carl

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Cynicism may not be something you care for, but it’s something in great supply in alt.acting. See, a week doesn’t go by that someone doesn’t post something at least in the same vein that you just did. "No pay, exposure, chance to work," that sort of thing. Yours seems to be a little more equitable than the ones we have seen, so for that, I give you some benefit of the doubt. But this is cyberspace, and in cyberspace, no one knows if you’re a dog. Give us some more details, please. What are you proposing? Do you have scripts in hand? Is it going to be free-form experimental? What precisely are your credentials, beyond a DV ‘corder and passion? Tao te Carl up: Hi people,    Being a newcomer film (digital video) maker has been a bumpy ride.  I have a lot of equipment and ideas but find putting those ideas down onto tape has been hard because I lack the experience and the support crew / actors.  I know a lot of you guys have had this same problem.  This may sound a little simplistic, but I was thinking about putting together a support network of sorts where we would work together towards a common good- making art for hardly any money.  I’m looking for beginners, veterans or people with a passion but not enough money to splurge on equipment like I did. Actors and actresses that need some real world experiencewould also be great! We’d make each others films and would all work for free getting/sharing much experience and building portfolios (while also getting free crew members.)  I know this sounds unrealistic but a part of me hopes that some people out there don’t care about money and would volunteer some of their weekend for something that could be worthwhile. Again, this is totally non-profit and I’m not talking about a one-shot thing.  Please email interested in.. PLEASE, no flames… I was already hesitating to post this and cynicism is NOT something I care for. Thank you very much and take care.
