Could someone take a second to explain the best way to respond to posts so

that the group is condensed and messages are not overlooked ? David… First, read only once a day, as they are threaded by AOL only once a day (once every 24 hour unit). Second, to respond, click on "reply to group", and begin by qouting a brief (if possible) amount of text from the original post you are specifically responding to so that the readers will be able to follow along with you. Third, remember the importance of time on the internet.  The shorter your reply (and qoute) the better, for two reasons: #1. Some subscribers pay by the minute like a real phone call and they don’t like to sift through lengthy explanations, and #2. Nettiquette states that with the number of viewers entering the tens of millions, each second "online" by a single individual equals approximately 16 hours of man time globally.  Save the Earth and keep it short. Forgive my lengthy explanation, humbly submitted.. .

- Could someone take a second to explain the best way to respond to – posts so that the group is condensed and messages are not overlooked – ? – – David… Not everyone can reply using the same method, so I will explain how I am doing it right now. I am on a BBS in NYC. I am using a DOS telcom program (Procomm Plus) at my end at home while the BBS uses PCBoard to carry the Usent newsgoups. When I hit reply, I am offered the option of quoting any part, all of or none of the message I am replying to. With some news readers the user has a very tedious time to quote only part of a message. I sometimes log on thru another service where I use Lynx as a WWW browser and reference.com to access newsgroups, especially those not carried by the BBS that I am on-line with at the moment. There, I would have to quote an entire message, if it is very long, I would annoy people. SOooo, in that case I don’t reply to messages using a quote feature. I would, instead post a new message with the same subject. Oh, if I want people to know where my p/r is I upload: Ray Normandeau, Rita Frazier (Normandeau); NYC actors. http://www.buzznyc.com/actors/res.frazier.rita.html http://www.buzznyc.com/actors/res.normandeau.raymond.html I also have a macro key instead that would send: Picture and resume on http://buzznyc.com The best way to have pictures seen by casting people etc is to mail them to the intended recipients. Don’t fax p/r unless invited to, especially during the business day as you could tie up their machine while the are expecting something more important (to the at least). For the Coney Island Mermaid Parade which I MC’s today I had sent out p/r with a caption under my pic mentioning that I would be working the parade and that there would be a nice selection of "picture" cars. To my surprise a CD who had audtioned me for a commercial a few month ago came over to say hello, My mailing got him to come out. I have no idea if any other industry people came out due to my mailing; altho a CD from a well known office had called me up when I was working on a commercial on Wednesday to say that she was coming. She had said that she would come forward and introduce herself. Maybe she didn’t make it. Maybe she thought that I was not worthwhile meeting, I dunno.

Perhaps it’s because of the first part, your server or isp, but why not create hyperlinks for your website.  I know, lazy me, but it might generate more activity.  Jus’ helpin’… Dlollar–"sense it, feel it, closing in around you."–poto

I don’t see much of it – my ISP is very good about that.  Try complaing to your ISP and the ISP of the spammer.  (don’t use the ‘reply to"address – dig through the headers) And take a look at: http://www-fofa.concordia.ca/spam/complaints.shtml — ** NOTE: address is spamblocked – }:-)       Christopher Jahn
