Valium
Question:
Hi Shell! << MS’ers are patients not addicts. Valium and Narcotic pain meds have a bad rep. because so many people, not patients, tend to abuse them. >> You got that right! I hate being made to feel like some kind of a drug addict because I take Valium. If I were some kind of an addict, I’d be getting it out on the street. Duh! Take away the damn MS, and I’ll give up the drugs. All of them! Sylvia

>>i guess it depends where you are?<<
It sure does, Lisa!! I take 40mg a day and get a 3 month supply at one time. (now, thru the mfr., but when I got it from the pharm, I got a 1 month supply (120), and 3 refills. I have been taking the same dosage for almost 20 years, and have never had an addiction problem. In fact, I *usually don’t remember to take my first dose of the day until the spasms have already started!! It’s the only one of the antispasmodics that has NO side effects for me, and to which I’ve never become the least addicted. (It’s also the only med I take for MS!) I take Neurontin for my severed nerves/herniated disks, Degen. Disk Disease, Arachnoiditis, etc., synthroid for low thyroid and Celebrex to keep my heart wall from becoming inflamed again.) My doctors (California, Colorado, Oregon and now this particular doc in FL) have never had a problem with prescribing as much V as I needed. It’s pretty well documented that it takes about 10 times what it takes the average person for me with *all pain/sedative/anaesthesia drugs. (I just HATE waking up in the middle of all my surgeries!!!) But I can’t tolerate *any dose of anything resembling an "upper" in any category! As we always must remember, what works one way for one person, works another way for someone else!! Every person is
