WOW. How did you do it? *HUGE pat on the back for this* My mother, in December, had part of her stomach taken out because she’s been overweight all of her life and was finally sick of it. She’s gone from 250lbs. down to 188 from Dec. 14th until now. My sister is going to the gym religiously and has lost a bunch too. Care to share your success story in this?

Thanks <blushes>. I didn’t really do anything extraordinary; I basically followed the old-fashioned method of eating less and moving more. I started out modestly, at first only cutting out the junk food and soda and restricting myself to 3 solid meals a day. After a few weeks I started exercising on a daily basis; nothing major, just a leisurely walk around the park. Over time, I slowly enhanced my efforts: I started eating smaller meals, I began taking longer, more intense walks, and (like your sister) I started going to a gym on a regular basis. However, I’ve found that these various methodological points are all meaningless unless you actually have a real motivation for wanting to change your life in the first place. You have to desire whatever it is you want so badly that you’re willing to do what at first would seem impossible in order to get it. Such a thing can’t be obtained from a bottle or a book; you have to find it for yourself. -Stan, doing it all for the nookie

Look at it this way. Which is more attractive? 1. A short, fat man. 2. A short, fat, smiling man. Smiling shows the world that you like yourself and don’t care what other people think. : )

Good point. I’ve actually been acting much more boldly than usual in the past few months, but my obesity continues to remain a psychological obstacle that I must constantly overcome. After I lose some more weight I’m sure that these kind of things will become much easier (I’ve already lost 80+ lbs.). -Stan, Fat Bastard (but not for much longer)
