THE ARTHUR RANSOME SOCIETY invitation to join

Question:

The Peter Hunt -Approaching Arthur Ransome- is called -Arthur Ransome- in the US, and is published as part of the Twayne English Author Series.  Unfortunately, -Racundra’s First Cruise- is NOT in print. -In The Footsteps of Swallows and Amazons- is a great little guidebook to Ransome’s Lake District, written by Claire Kendall-Price. I am going to the AGM this year, and if people are interested, I could pick up copies of this, quite conveniently, for RAB’ers and other Ransome fans. doug

Response:

[stuff deleted] Books in print by Arthur Ransome (in order of publication) Old Peter!s Russian Tales Racundra!s First Cruise

[more deleted] According to my local bookshop, "Racundra’s First Cruise" is not currently in print in the UK or the US. Is this correct? Brian Gay

So people keep telling me: I suppose it was in print when Tars wrote the brochure. Peter   i   |   |T   |A   |R     | 769   |__<o_

My copy of “Racundra’s” First Cruise says on the back of the title page:     "FIRST PUBLISHED IN JULY 1923 BY GEORGE ALLEN AND         UNWIN LTD., IN AN ILLUSTRATED EDITION STILL                         OBTAINABLE"  …however as the only indication of age of publication I can find is:     "FIRST ISSUED IN THE TRAVELLERS’ LIBRARY 1927"  it may bit a bit optimistic to hope that claim still stands. —                  Don’t tell my Mother I’m a programmer,                she thinks I’m a piano player in a brothel
