Fast & Furious DVD

Question:

Yes, get a 2800 stall converter and a 100 shot of NOS. DB1 – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I can’t wait for the DVD of the fast and furious to come out in a few days. I didn’t see the movie in the theatre, but the promos on TV looks great! Is it possible to get my 66 Mustang with 289 to do the 2 wheel bunny hop like the Dodge Charger in the promos?

Response:

Back in ‘79 (?), after I saw Star Wars the first time, I left the theater, drove up onto the highway headed for home, and was doing 110 before I realized I was going a bit fast. That final battle scene where Luke is flying up the lane toward the bombing site must have gotten my senses out of whack. "It wasn’t my fault, officer." Damn that Hollywood. dwight

Unfortunately, and not for lack of trying, I have concluded the Jedi mind trick does not work on PA State Troopers. Back in ‘79 they still had the cool gumball tops on the car, too.  Them were the days.  (Not that I was driving.  I was 9.  :) JD — JD Fensty www.fensty.com 00 GT ‘vert – Performance Red Spring Feature Package                 http://mustang.fensty.com 3.73’s, Bassani X & c/b, Nitto 555DRs, Tri-Ax, K&N 89 PGT Turbo:  http://fordprobe.fensty.com (stone stock daily driver / winterbeater)

I on the other hand saw it 4 times in the theater and I think that it commonized street racing too much.  As to where this happens all the time. But I for one liked it tons and think it had some sort of subliminal messenges to make us go out and street race and kill ourselves.

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -I know you know that and I know where you are coming from, but still… JD WELL Some movies are meant to be as if they’re real (say…Rain Man) and then some are obvious fantasy (say..Terminator). That’s why I said I know where you are coming from… "Rain Man" is a good example of a movie that’s pretty much "real", yes. But then take a movie like, say, "Die Hard 2." Is Die Hard 2 supposed to be real?  If so, it fails so utterly miserably since virtually every aspect of that movie is impossible.  (I pick this one ‘cuz it’s one of my favorite movies to rip on for how they sacrafice everything for the sake of action)   But it "could be real" in that it’s not scifi, fantasy (well…) or anything of that nature.  But it’s still not "supposed to be real" IMHO… In my mind movies like this, and Fast and Furious, you need to just suspend disbelief and enjoy the ride.  Getting all bunched up because "That couldn’t happen in real life" is just going to give you heartburn. Also w/Fast and Furious, you don’t really think they were going to build up street rods with all real equipment (as I said, tens of thousands of dollars) just to destroy them.  Over and over I might add as each shot has to get done from multiple angles, etc.  Obviously they’d just take a few wrecks, paint them and add fake scoops, etc.  Equating that with "the ricer attitude" is complete insanity. Anyway we could get all philosophical here and say "what is real anyway" but do we really want to go there?  :)

I agree, JD you make good points Dima F. 1987 Mustang 2.3Lx Pony Car 2002 Mazda PR5 2.0L Zoom Car (remove "1987" from e-mail to e-mail me) "A horse never runs so fast as when he has other horses to catch up and outpace" — Ovid "Words of Wisdom" "Computer games don’t affect kids; if Pac-man had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."  – unknown

But I saw it the first night, and when the movie got over with, everyone, was squackin the tires leaving the parking lot.  The next night, 2 cops sat at the exit, and the first two people to leave got pulled over, as it turnes out, one of the cops saw the  movie the previous night, and ended up reminicing about the movie, instead of writing a citation. Well anyways it was a long day By the way, does anyone realize the hell it is to take out an 86 mustang head deck?  Because it took an hour to get the old one out, and then another two to put the new Alpine in and rewire the car for the amp and subs.  It was a bitch.  It wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for my friends and I ability to African-American Engineer the thing. Heh, that was what the original poster was saying.   In the "real" world, yeah, doing that is ricey. In the "reel" world, doing that is just good business. So you met Bubba in cellblock 314 too!  Wasn’t he a hunk of a man? Seriously though do you really think that the movie is going to make some ricer do more than he would have been egged on to do by his friends? Despite all the hoola ba loo when the movie was released, I didn’t remember a single accident or incidence associated with the movie. If your theory was right, then Days of Thunder, Speed, and all other racing related movies should be condemned. FWIW I am not in favor of street racing in an organized manner.  I think you should take it to the tracks, but an occasional spanking on a 4 lane boulevard does no one any harm, don’t you agree? Just my 2 cents.  Bubba say to tell you hi. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -spends the rest of his life being Bubba’s bitch in cellblock 314. I didn’t see the movie in the theaters (I’d rather dump the $10 down a sewer drain), but I did catch it via an MPG file. Aside from the blatant glorization of street racers, the misinformation put forth by the script/cast/director, the acting was simply horrendous. I haven’t seen something this bad since Howard The Duck. The saddest thing about that movie is that I am sure that there is some young clodhopper in a (insert under-powered import of choice here) that believes that ‘naawz’ will solve all of their problems. Worse yet, it may even desenitize viewers to the danger of street racing. If they truly wated to do the moviegoing public a favor (other than NOT making the movie, or the sequel that is in the works..ugh) they would have had a character crash and kill innocent bystanders, and show the guilt that the character feels as he spends the rest of his life being Bubba’s bitch in cellblock 314. That was a fake seen, in fact one car in the movie had a fake blower so I guess it conforms to the all show no go mentality of rice.

That whole MOVIE was friggin’ fake. That Charger that was able to pull a huge wheelstand took about 20 seconds to do the quarter.  Uh huh Remove "ustangGT" to email me. Http://mortville6.tripod.com/gt.html  <—- My ‘92 GT Convertible

ROFL and I loved how the tires smoked, AND hooked and lifted the front end off the ground at the same time.  LMFAO.  Such bullshit in movies.  Why can’t they just build the car with a lot of power and actually show it pulling a real wheelie.  Hell they can dump ungodly amounts of money into a VW Jetta (LMAO) but they can’t put 20k into a Charger so it will pull the wheels off the ground for real.  They used some lame hydraulic setup. — Paul Black ‘93 Cobra #2214 Borla Catback, Pro 5.0, K&N, 3.73 Bassani X-pipe w/cats, Jet-hot BBK shorties, Steeda subframe connectors
