Wake up Bill!
Question:
Any actors or actresses here in Florida? I’d love to hear from you. I’m in Fort Lauderdale myself and am trying to get more serious down here. I’ve been doing mostly non or low paying things and would like to talk with others down here as to some of the resources and ways to go about it. http://www.blackout.com Blackout’s Box * * * * * [This message was posted to the ACTING-L mailing list and relayed to this newsgroup. Jenn… who is sometimes Bill…. Two thoughts…. First…. please, as a favor to you and me…. change your caller id to jenn, or something other than Bill. I don’t claim ownership to "Bill," but I have received private posts that are meant for you. And I don’t have the time to tell the sender to E-Mail you, rather than me. Second…. the Seattle-Vancouver connection (US/Canada) is absolutely wonderful and beneficial for actors from both sides of the border. I’m sorry that you don’t have the "focus groups" that center on your territoty. Sooner, or later, there will be web-sites that connect both regional areas and international…. dialogues. I’m working on a web-site that deals with talent and crew for Colorado. It’s thankless work…. but I’ll put it together, someday. I guess I was just expressing frustration regarding the lack of representation on the Net. I’ve been exposed to far too many theatre and film folk who spew how Vancouver is growing in these industries, yet you’d never guess it if you were to surf the Net. There are very few sites for our major theatres, film studios and community theatres.
I’m with you, Jenn. As an ex-pat Canadian working in NZ, I keep hearing about how things are booming in Vancouver – and some days (like, the unemployed ones
) I wonder about coming back and trying out the West Coast. However, I’ve found it’s real tough to get any true idea about what’s happening there by surfing the ‘net . . . and Vancouver papers and such are *completely* non-existant over here – unless I want to subscribe for several hundred bucks a year. dl * * * * * [This message was posted to the ACTING-L mailing list and relayed to this newsgroup. Jenn: I still don’t know what sort of things you are looking for. Perhaps you could let me know and together we could find something. Danny: Things are booming here in Vancouver. Everybody I know is busy and working on one thing or another. There is not a lot of info about filming in Vancouver on the Net, I think, because most of it originates south of the border. The Vancouver papers don’t really care about local industry anyway, unless it has a hollywood star in it, so they are very un reliable that way. For what it’s worth.
