RSG-Chattanowhere will be held on February 29, 2002. Mark it on your calendars.
Response:
That’s the long holiday weekend of February 29-32, right? Count me in. I was hoping to get back to Noogieville in the rainy season. Randy

Response:
Feb 29? I’ll be there! Hopefully the greens will not be covered by leaves like they were on Sunday in Nashville.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Anytime but October or Nov., hunting season here. Early Sept?
Response:
Wish I’d known you were here. I live very near Trophy Club, and play there all the time. Randy – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – "John Pflum, Jr." wrote … I am tossing around some dates for the RSG-Cincinnati event for next year and was wondering if anyone has already picked dates for any of the other RSG events. Dear Cincinnati Fats, RSG-ATLANTA 2K2 is not yet in the planning stages. Concerning scheduling, all I can tell you is this: I am totally at the mercy of the broadcast schedule the radio network decides upon for 2002. I do all the events EXCEPT the ones they select to do for the Senior TOUR. Someone else does those, so whatever weekends they’re doing Senior TOUR events, I can be hosting an RSG event. It just so happened there were three weekends in a row in July in 2K1. If I had my drothers, we’d go in October. … October, on the other hand, is the dryest month of the year, temps are quite moderate, and we have the added benefit of having the awesome colors of autumn on full display. It is easily the most beautiful time of the year here, and generally perfect golf weather. The down side, of course, is that the days are shorter, so playing 36 holes in a day might be a stretch. But who knows, we might not have as many people in October, … Another downside would be re-seeding. I played in Atlanta the first weekend of October this year. All the courses we played were in the middle of their overseeding process. On three of the four, the fairways were so soaked from the watering that you had continuous standing water … and it hadn’t rained in a week. Cart path only, soaked everywhere, erratic green speed, and nobody even cared enough to lower the greens fees to soften the blow. One watered continuously throughout the round. But if you can avoid that problem, the weather in October would be a lot more appealing to us "nawthern" folks than July. – Joe Conte FWIW: We played Gold Creek, Trophy Club, Chestatee, and Windemere. We liked Chestatee the best, with Gold Creek (a much cheaper) second. — Joe
Response:
Just before RSG-ATLANTA rolled around, I surfed to a weather almanac site, and much to my horror, discovered that July is one of the two wettest months of the year in Atlanta. Needless to say, I was holding my breath right up until our weekend. Fortunately, God smiled on us. (Well, on all of us except Ken.) <g
Sometimes it seems that God has a keen sense of humor about some things. And then there’s God’s mean streak …. you know, the Greg Norman thing.

I’m looking to have the event around July 4 sometime; the weekend after July 4 looks poor (too close to the holiday), but the weekend or two before might work. It depends on a few people’s schedules right now, for instance, I need to consult Scott Dega about it. You’re getting me up off my couch; I’ll send out a message to previous attendees and see if they have any preference (Thor: How about you?). BTW: John, I tried to email you earlier today, the message bounced. Please email me, I have something I need to discuss w/ you off-group. An unseasonably cool and dry weekend in July two years in a row may be asking a lot. Just before RSG-ATLANTA rolled around, I surfed to a weather almanac site, and much to my horror, discovered that July is one of the two wettest months of the year in Atlanta. Anyway, I can’t start looking at a date until I see the broadcast calendar, which should be hammered out sometime in the next month. Incidentally, I’m considering a whole different format, just to give RSG-ATLANTA a unique branding, as if The Coveted Peach Jacket weren’t enough. And no, the "Felicity Vomit Pail" is not the prize I had in mind. But it might make a nice consolation prize.
