King Kong Koenig

Question:

wow!  It’s just like I was there! Is that the ball up there in the bedding of that middle home? Yep, that’s it.  His patented fade.

Trouble is, that one didn’t fade…stayed right where I aimed it…ended up pin high left…about 40-45 ft. Make Birdies, it’s easier that way. Mark

Response:

Since I was somewhat removed from the fairway, I didn’t see Mark’s swing, only the outcome of the shot.  What was the distance?  (My drive was a full 175 yd pop-up…my score on the hole Annika?) I don’t recall the exact distance …. probably something in the 220-240

range. I thought it was closer…225-230 (to the pin)….but i’ve had way too many beers since then,  :-) And yes, Bobby, you did also make birdie on the hole, scarring an otherwise perfect round and proving that even a blind hog finds an acorn once in

awhile. It was a "trash management" birdies for Bobby :) Make Birdies, it’s easier that way. Mark

Response:

If he was down there with his drive, he *IS* King Kong.  That was a massive drive!  Nice goin’, Mark.

That one was one of my longest of the weekend…caught the downhill just right I guess….or maybe it was because I just found/finished another one of those beers that someone so kindly left me on the course :-) Those houses up on the hill look much closer in the picture than they actually are.

Yes, the camera fools you there….it was still a long way. Make Birdies, it’s easier that way. Mark

Response:

I was more impressed with the Bhghost and astia photos… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -I only took one shot with my 35mm camera at RSG-ATLANTA. I decided to just play golf and not worry about takin pics since others would be taking plenty and I usually play like crap when I start worrying about the photography. But anyway, I hope you guys like the one I took.  It is of Mark Koenig, knocking his second shot on the green on Windemere’s Par-5 #14 hole. Nice shot, Mark! http://members.aol.com/annika1980/koenig.jpg

I thought Mark’s follow through was kinda Hoganesque, like the famous pic of Hogan at Merion. I could take Mark out and put Hogan in if you like.

http://members.aol.com/annika1980/koenig.jpg Great shot!  Photo that is….all golf talk aside, he’s got the camera gear!  Being a photo buff in my high school/college days, I spotted the gear…

Nah, if I had the lens I want you’d be able to tell the color of the lady’s eyes in the garage up on the hill.

If you wouldn’t buy old Volkswagens for Drivers, you’d have some of the money for your lens :) Make Birdies, it makes for a better picture. Mark

Hogan wasn’t as tall :-) and he could never drink like me <g Make Birdies, drink a beer. Mark

I posted that pic to my Photopoint account at: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=574424&a=4195918&p=5206343… If you go there and then click on the pic, you’ll see a much larger (1545×1214) version.  This is still only half the size of the original scan, however.

Well I wasn’t gonna tell them that. Last time I’m ever gonna try to be nice!

Or, better yet, Annika, dig up a copy of the Hogan at Merion pic and put Mark into that one. (g)

Is that the ball, just above the green patch between the houses, against the brown patch?  Almost directly above the midpoint of the shaft? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I posted that pic to my Photopoint account at: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=574424&a=4195918&p=5206343… If you go there and then click on the pic, you’ll see a much larger (1545×1214) version.  This is still only half the size of the original scan, however.

When I squeeze every inch out of my driver, I’m usually about five yard short of benefitting from that downslope that would give me just enough to make me want to think about going for that green. As it is, it gets so narrow up past the fairway bunker, all I can really do is hit about a 6 or 7 iron to take the bunker out of play and leave a full wedge. That was a mighty poke you hit. Randy
